Field of Science and Mathematics Education

This field was created in CAPES (Brazillian Government) in September 2000. The first course approved by the field in October 2000 was the master's degree in Teaching, Philosophy and History of Sciences, developed jointly by the Federal University of Bahia and the State University of Feira de Santana.

The field committee of the area, on this occasion, consisted of professors Eduardo Mortimer, Oto Néri Borges, Rômulo Lins, Frederico S. de Sousa Cruz, Roque Moraes, Terezinha Valim Gonçalves, Tânia MM Campos, Adelaide Falijoni-Alario, Nélio Bizzo and Representative of the Field, Marco Antônio Moreira.

During the months of April and May of the year 2000, ULBRA was attended by the field in several consultations in order to create the master's degree in Science and Mathematics Teaching. The university was successful with his project in 2001 with the favorable opinion of the recommendation. The field of ??Science and Mathematics Education has a deep concern to never give up rigorous quality criteria. In this sense, the qualification of faculty, research activities and publications in refereed journals, both nationally and internationally, are among the first and most important criteria to be used.
